Steve Erdman

President

Steve Erdman began his career in real estate in 1977 by joining the firm of Goldrich and Kest, a company specializing in the development and construction of thousands of housing units and retirement facilities throughout California.

In 1983, Steve became a Vice President in charge of Goldrich and Kest’s entire Construction Operations division including all phases of the development process. Steve managed multiple projects, including large developments of multi family subsidized apartment projects, high-end and high-rise apartments, condominiums and single-family homes, housing tracts, board and care facilities, convalescent hospitals, hotels, commercial, and large industrial projects.

He has a wealth of experience in dealing with many government and public agencies such as HUD, CRA, CHFA, OSHPUD, Los Angeles Housing Department, universities, non-profit organizations, and has extensive practice doing business with numerous city and county officials throughout the state.

In 1990, Steve began to develop projects on his own as the Owner and President of Westside Contractors, Inc. He develops apartments, condominiums and custom homes in the Los Angeles area.

Brian Gelt

VP, Construction and Development

Brian joined Westside Contractors in January of 2011 as Vice President responsible for the Company’s due diligence, entitlement, permitting, and construction activities. In addition, he assists the Executive Team in land acquisitions and feasibility underwriting.

Brian began his career estimating and managing commercial construction projects for Lusardi Construction Company. He worked for Jackson Pendo Development and Williams Homes managing the entitlement and construction processes of infill residential development projects. In his career, Brian built hundreds of single-family and multi-family units, repositioned hotels, entitled a retail center, and advanced the Specific Plan and EIR on a 5,000 acre master planned community.

Brian earned Masters of Real Estate Development (MRED) degree from USC and a bachelor’s degree in City Planning as a scholarship athlete from San Diego State University. Brian also holds a California Real Estate Broker’s license and a California B Contractor’s license.

Brian is active in USC’s Graduate of Real Estate Association, National Association of Home Builders, and Urban Land Institute.

Andy Berthold

Head of Construction / Project Manager

Andy Berthold has been with Westside Contractors for 7 years. He has overseen the construction of multiple condominium, mixed-use, small lot and apartment projects for the company over the past decade. In his 30 plus year career Andy has worked on ground up Residential & Mixed Use projects, Airport projects, School projects as well as seismic retrofit and modernization projects. Andy had worked on over $213M of construction and development projects totaling over 486,00 square feet. As a licensed General Contractor he has also rehabbed dozens of single family homes to the highest quality. He is passionate and dedicated to the craft. Andy grew up in Switzerland and enjoys weightlifting, skiing and traveling with his family.

Tom Hinerfeld

Project Manager

Tom Hinerfeld has been with Westside-Contractors since 2018. He brings forty years of construction experience working on hundreds of projects. Throughout his career Tom has focused on quality and vigorous coordination of the work. Many of his commercial and residential projects have been published and have received local and national architectural awards. Tom has worked on over $235 million dollars of ground up construction projects totaling over 723,000 square feet. His passion for design and architecture led him take part in the establishment of the Architectural + Design Museum (A+D Museum) and he has served on the board of the museum for nearly ten years. Tom also served also on the board of Livable Places, which enabled him to take part in developing over 160 affordable residential units in Los Angeles. Tom is a graduate of Georgetown University and an avid scuba diver.

Gabriel Cielak

Assistant Project Manager

Gabriel joined the Westside team in December of 2016 as an assistant project manager. He holds many responsibilities including contract buyout, plan coordination, quality control, and scheduling. He was an integral part of building The Rhys in Koreatown. Gabriel received his bachelor degree in economics from the University of Oregon in 2013 and has been working in construction ever since. He has experience in commercial construction, tenant improvement, and multi-family construction. Since joining Westside Contractors, he has expanded his knowledge to include development, permitting, and property management. Gabriel enjoys playing soccer and avid listener of audiobooks.
